1. Nico is born on June 14th, 1983, in Pasadena, California, United States.
  2. Rumor has it that as a kid, Nico is terribly fond of Gumby.
  3. When his brother is born in 1984, the family moves to the nearby shithole known as Glendora, California, but kids don’t know shitholes when they live in them so this doesn’t bother Nico.
  4. Nico’s fear of water comes from almost drowning in the South Sea of China while visiting his parents’ home country, the Philippines.
  5. Nico’s love of video games comes from a very early introduction to the Atari 2600 and NES.
  6. Nico loves the Ninja Turtles (but really, who didn’t?).
  7. The first album Nico buys is not MC Hammer’s Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em, was not Nirvana’s Nevermind, was not Green Day’s Dookie, but Depeche Mode’s Violator – and he is damn proud of that.
  8. Like a lot of young boys, Nico takes karate lessons, and his highest achievement is something to the effect of a purple belt, and this will have absolutely no bearing on his current physical prowess and lack thereof.
  9. Nico’s family moves back to the city of Pasadena in mid-childhood to become suburbanites, probably one of the most significant influences on his life.
  10. Nico’s parents buy him a second-hand drum kit while he is very young and impressionable, and they unlock his first, final, and absolute love of musicianship.
  11. Unknowingly, Nico gets thrown head-long into the local music scene by attending his first concert, which is to go see his cousin’s band perform in Hollywood.
  12. Soon after this, Nico begins a band of his own, which would keep him playing throughout high school and learning more musical instruments along the way.
  13. Because it is necessary to produce flyers and a website to list upcoming shows for a band, Nico learns HTML in the first year of becoming a teenager, not knowing that someday it would become his job to work on the internet.
  14. Nico is drilled by a very tough English teacher, but soon learns in high school that because English was so difficult in middle-school that English in high school is easy.
  15. Instead of ruining the English language for himself, Nico decides not to take advanced courses so that he can play with words like toys instead of work with them like tools.
  16. Nico learns French, and though this is useless in Southern California, il devient compétente et il visite la France (aussi, beaucoup de Europe).
  17. Nico’s first car is a Saab 900, which is the perfect car for a gigging drummer, especially when it actually runs.
  18. Nico’s first relationship with a girl ends strangely, with the witness-protection-program style complete disappearance of someone he really liked, and gives Nico abandonment issues.
  19. Nico goes to Occidental College, which will create a student loan that he will pay back over the course of the rest of his life.
  20. Nico unwittingly contributes to the creation of a booking company that will eventually make him a booker and sound engineer at a bar every weekend, making him sacrifice his social life so that others may have one.
  21. Nico has tried more drugs than he can count on his fingers, but all this is (thankfully) behind him, and there’s no permanent damage (that we know of).
  22. Nico becomes a slacker.
  23. Nico gets thrown headlong into the world of marketing and web development.
  24. Nico becomes a workaholic.
  25. Nico is blogging here.
