Down.

"It can get worse," I say, and then it does, and I get wearier and wearier.

Smiling in the face of adversity is starting to feel like a lie.

Going to withdraw for a while.

I'm so sorry to hear this!  The down part, I mean.  The withdrawal part may be good for your well-being, for all I know, and I'd never express dismay over your taking care of that.  Seriously, no need to go through anything alone, though.  Plenty out here/there have felt the same way at some point.  Don't let the world cave in.  No one can "fix it," of course, but having people around who understand helps.

:( Isolation = not good, but I understand how that works. Hoping things look up sooner rather than later.

I don't like to think of it as a lie. I like to think of it more as a "F YOU, ADVERSITY"
