Yep, local bands. You might know someone in one. It's likely that if you live in an area where things like guitars and drum kits and pianos are somewhat accessible, you at least know a local musician. You might be one.
Chances are, if you're reading this, you know me or at least you get the general idea. Maybe. Do strangers read this? Hi? I'm in a local band.
But wait, you correct me, your band is only local to your geographic location. After all, "local" is an adjective that is defined as belonging or relating to a particular area or neighborhood, typically exclusively so. (Oxford American Dictionary)
But wait, I retort, what if we consider the small communities on the internet neighborhoods? After all, they're already described as communities.
I've said it before, but I have made (pretty fucking awesome, mind you) friends with people on the internet through some communities. So, if these people are my friends, who I met by being part of communities, are they my neighbors, and therefore, local?
If you know me, and chances are you do, does that mean you know someone in a local band?
