The "Work-cation"

Also known as the portmanteau of “working vacation”, whereby I’m taking a trip, but I also plan to never leave the internet.  With an iPhone in pocket, can any less be expected?

I’m heading out east for a little bit for two reasons…

1. This thing:

2. One of my favorite places on the planet:

“]”][via destination360]Which reminds me, I have COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN where I put my notes to finish my Brooklyn essays.  There was a point to me writing those, I’m pretty sure…

I will be taking notes at the meetup on what it’s like when a bunch of bloggers who love their network finally meet each other in person. And as I work on the internet, I am also going to be taking notes on how this kind of interaction can be useful for work.  But I’m not going in as a double-agent who works for a social media marketing company — I really love 20SB, and would not put them in any weird corporate predicaments.  I’m going in, in the name of my job, to take notes on what corporate life can learn from bloglife; if there’s any exploitation going on between corporates and bloggies, you can be sure it’ll be a mutual exchange.

As a caveat, I will also be trying my best to remember things while under the influence of alcohol. I’ve never been there, but I hear that Chicago is a city with reliable public transportation.  Moreover, I’m pretty confident that it has food that tastes even better–not to mention music that will sound even kick ass-er–when you’re drunk.

Then, I will be hitting up my company’s NYC office to see how they roll, and I’m stoked, because one of my best friends lives in Brooklyn and it will be awesome to see him again.

Some of you are looking forward to the long weekend, as am I.  But this other trip I have planned is getting me far more excited.

That said, who is in these parts of the world during the end of June?

And would you like to grab a drink with me?

6 Guests On The List

  1. Phil says:

Unfortunately, as things have panned out, I won’t be able to make the big meet-up after all. I’m super sad about it, too.

But I am going to try to make the Vegas one, so that’ll be cool.

  2. Jamie says:

Yay Chicago! We will show you a good time. Pinkie promise.

  3. courtney says:

    nico.
    nico nico nico nico nico.

in one month i get to see your beautiful, smiling, extremely inebriated face IN PERSON.

and i could not be more excited.

you gonna buy me a beer? ;)

  4. cari says:

oh how i wish i could be there. instead, i will be in binford, nd (population 200 or so) visiting a friend who is in desperate need of a visitor or 5. because i can’t afford to get to chicago. though i so wish i could, so i could meet all you cool bloggy people, see my dearest courtney, meet some other cool bloggy people, yeah. alas, it is not meant to be.

but while i’m at bull-o-rama (i know, right), i will be thinking of you all but still having fun where i am. because i’m like that.

  5. Jenn says:

Yay! I’m super excited that you’re coming!

  6. verybadcat says:

    Oh, Nico….

I’m registered. I have plane tickets.

But eating and sleeping in Chicago are where I start running into roadblocks. I don’t eat much, so I’ve decided if I can resolve my sleeping issues, my sweet ass is going. It’s a big if right now, though.

There isn’t a whole lot I’d like more in the world than to have a drink with you. Cross your fingers for me!

Drop In, Say Hello.
