Cold Season

December 15th, 2007 Posted in Life As A Nico

As I am a resident of southern California, most other people from more meteorologically variable parts of the world can very well scoff at me if I complain about the weather being cold here. 45˚ F / 7.2˚ C is actually not shockingly cold to other people who live in, say, Sweden.

That’s not what I’m going to be talking about. When I say “cold season” I am talking about the season which renders a lot of people susceptible to catching a cold.

I hate it. I always get sick at least once during this season, no matter how hard I try to watch out.

Meh.

So this means I took some sick days off of work, at both my day job (from Thurs-Fri) and from work at the bar (Sat) because ordinarily, I’d screw up or sincerely stifle getting better by going out and doing something while convincing myself I am not that sick… I already made that mistake by attending the company Christmas party on Thursday and I have set myself back another day (so, hypothesis debunked: the alcohol in a glass of whiskey does not kill bacteria).

Anyway, the point is to get well as soon as possible so I’m not going to remove myself from my apartment until I have all of my batteries charged at 100%. As I am in quarantine, it has been prudent of my roommate that he’s barely been here this weekend. Good move, intentional or not, I hope whatever I’ve caught isn’t airborne and that he doesn’t get sick.

Being sick is lame and I have quickly remembered that it is also pretty boring. At least SNL is airing the Chris Farley episodes and not some lamer re-run during the writer’s strike.

I would rather be at work, because at least I might be making money.

However, I’d rather be well than to have money and feel no better. So, quarantine it is.

*cough*

I shan’t scoff, as I freeze easily myself and I know how scantily insulated Cali houses can be.
(Incidentally, people here are complaining because we’re probably not going to have any snow over xmas, but that’s fine by me since we reside in slushville…)
    Get well soon!

Whateva. Cold is cold. So I start to shiver at 72 degrees? That does not make me any less of a man.

    Quarantine’s almost over, though…right?

    Just in time for Christmas!
